Rita Ora celebrates Kosovo's independence anniversary with new hoodie
Pop star Rita Ora has designed a colourful new hooded sweatshirt to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her homeland Kosovo's independence. The Your Song hitmaker, who was born in the Eastern European nation but grew up in the U.K., will return to her native country on Saturday (17Feb18) to perform as part of a series of events organised by authorities to commemorate the 2008 declaration of independence from Serbia.
She will headline a big gig in Skanderbeg Square, in the capital city of Pristina, where she will be joined on the bill by local singers and DJs. In honour of the special occasion, Rita has unveiled two new sweatshirts, known as the ROKI Hoodies, short for the Rita Ora Kosova Independence Day concert. Kosova is the Albanian spelling for the country.
HELLO EVERYONE! I am so excited to be joining all of you in Kosovo to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Independence on Feb 17!," she writes on Instagram, beside a photo of the colourful concert logo. "To mark this occasion I have created this hoodie... so you can all have a memory of this night we will share together…See you soon. Love from Rita".
The tops come in either black or white, and feature the word 'KOSOVA' across the chest, with the shape of the country substituting the first 'O'. It also features on the back of the hoodie, beneath phrases including, "Rita Ora", "Independence Day 2018", and "10th Anniversary", which are printed to form the letter 'K'. Ora was made an honorary ambassador for Kosovo in 2015.
